On Tuesday we headed up to the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston.
Picnic brunch.
We took a train ride through the plantation and saw a sleeping aligator.
This was a real plantation. Here you can see the slave quarters.
Spanish moss - neither Spanish nor moss - hangs from the trees in great abundance!
Here is the mansion.
We took a tour of the house ... here is a shot from the front porch.
Beautiful dinning room.
Next we headed down for a boat ride.
There is also a horticultural maze - Lewis thought this would be simple ... it wasn't!
This is the most photographed spot in SC.
There is also a petting zoo on the plantation. The kids thought this was great!

On Saturday we left Hilton Head to head for home. We didn't really want to go home so we spent much of the day looking at tour books to find something to do on the way home.
When we hit the Smokies we decided to take a look at the NC side of the mountains.
There we found the OCONALUFTEE Indian Village where you could walk through and see what life in a Cherokee tribe would have been like.
These Indians did not live in tepee's they built homes. Here the kids sit in front of one.
They build their canoes from one log. Here they are burning out a canoe
Elizabeth & Victoria made a friend who stayed with them the whole tour.
In closing a Cherokee gave us a discription of life then vs. life now. It was very informative.
